The Reform UK leader Claims Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues
The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike shortly after a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by instructing students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.
During an event for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his perspective on the UK education system, stating that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.
“I’m anticipating a walkout by educators soon after winning the next general election,” he remarked during a Q&A session.
“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They create division, not uniting us. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”
In response to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede rejected the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and questioned whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.
“Farage has built his political career on coded rhetoric and now, similar to other figures, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a conflict,” Kebede stated.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for students and learning.”
Reform, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and seems not to have designated an education lead.
Nonetheless, his comments indicated the group would reform the system and the curriculum. He said: “We face an enormous task with schooling – truly monumental. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”
He stated that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Honoring Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind as opposed to current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”
Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.
Farage has accused Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned through education, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.
Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.
Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years caused widespread disruption in schools and extensive missed instruction for students.
During the American gathering, Farage also vowed to promote the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I mean this. I’ll assist garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to your online courses. I pledge this now and I’ll do that.”
The institution, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. It offers these excellent programs for no charge to every interested learner.”
