The Mighty Nein, the newest animated adventure from the beloved role-playing group, revealed an exciting introductory sequence. It showcases the beloved cast of misfits, outcasts, and criminals kicking ass and making their mark, while teasing at multiple heart-wrenching personal histories for characters including the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, Fjord.

Overall, the intro appears stunning. But I couldn't help feeling that an element was lost in the music selection.

This sequence employs "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional composition composed by artist Colm McGuinness. This piece originating from the soundtrack album of that title, the second one released by Critical Role Productions LLC's record label Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a wonderful nostalgic option, and I suspect that devotees of the sequel series will love its inclusion.

But for me, The Mighty Nein's opening fails to capture the excitement and excitement that was part of the show's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", written by musician the artist, became an immediate hit in my view when it was first revealed in 2015, and it improved further when cast member Sam Riegel wrote words to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in the later year.

Featuring vocals from one actress, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as the writer, the track was catchy and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't seen the follow-up series at that point, but it was so infectious that I kept it on my phone. It's a song that excites you before you start an installment of fantasy hijinks.

The show's opening with "the new song" fails to hit the same chords for me. It's an impressive piece of music, but based on my understanding of this party, I feel that its tone is a little off.

Of course, the creators has stated that the animated show will have some changes and variations from the actual-play campaign. A tonal change for its intro seems to be among these.
