Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is unclear and the US has remained silent.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites associated with the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with notable success and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.

It said debris landed in a residential area in the capital, causing some property damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
