Football Expert Chris Sutton Takes On Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Forecasts

Arsenal's ten-match winning run was ended by Sunderland before the international hiatus, but can the English top division leaders bounce back against local foes Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," stated football specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against AI, fans and a variety of special visitors.

In week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

Murs' new album, the new release, is out on the weekend.

Football and Family Experiences

Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a accomplished singer and has been a featured player of several Soccer Aid games over time - but he is not planning a professional comeback as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a benefit match the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I still love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or boy decides to play instead."

The singer and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and their son, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their coach.

"I won't push football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their weekend soccer side," he said.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a while too.

"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is likely where I get it from. He managed our side for two or three seasons and had great fun with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's comeback from fitness issues but their offense is already more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this fixture will be fairly tight, though. The Clarets are well organised and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

This suggests a 1-1 tie to me, but I am actually going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

The singer's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their past two matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, West Ham secured back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear strong again.

West Ham's sole away win this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their manager Nuno was previously that team's coach.

So, what on earth do I go with here - can West Ham extending their streak under Nuno, or the home side responding?

I will go with Bournemouth, because I believe what occurred against Aston Villa was a blip.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Olly's prediction: The home team are doing well but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were considered one of the favourites for relegation before the season started, but they have impressed a few people under their manager and are in fine fettle with three wins in their last four matches.

A family member advised me to get Bees striker Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will likely score again on the weekend but I am still not going to select him or back the away side at Amex Stadium.

They have not had great success on the travel this season, and the Seagulls are always decent at their stadium. Brentford will try to attack on the counter-attack but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a threat.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

The singer's view: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of scores but it actually turns out to be quite close. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a huge game for Fulham, who have lost five of their last six matches.

They have got lots of talent in their team but it still seems like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.

Regarding the Black Cats, well they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.

The away side's display in the 2-2 draw with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We've not witnessed anyone else rough up the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The logical choice to do to support the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the close of October.

But I am not choose that. Instead, I really need to continue going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they clearly love to defy my predictions.

Looking at the home side's home form, the sole team they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be absolutely eager for a positive outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.

The expert's prediction: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I know the visitors are performing strongly and also that the hosts are on a poor run... but they have still been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard one to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but might they be among the sides who benefit from the {international break|
