American actor Finn, who featured in popular programs like "Friends", "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has passed away at the age of 60.

The comedic improv actor died at home in LA this Monday following treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, according to reports.

"He considered no one a stranger - only friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives stated in a announcement.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".

A Notable Television Career

Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the titular character's brother.

He subsequently landed a regular part on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He starred as Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a social organizer who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.

In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous well-known programs, like:

  • The King of Queens
  • "Friends"
  • That '70s Show
  • House

His most famous role for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight series between 2011 and 2018.

Beyond his television work, Finn was an improv performer and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was part of a six-member improv team named Beer Shark Mice.

"He guided, supported, and advised many learners during his career and it's nearly impossible to find anyone who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.

Paying homage, colleague and actor Richard Kind said there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote publicly.

The actor is remembered by his wife Donna, his three kids, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
